I forgot just how little newborns sleep. I am not quite sure if I'm even awake yet as I type this. It amazes me how I can walk around in a drunken sleep deprived stupor and still function. Josh is up all night long. He's cooing and gurgling, searching the room for someone to play with. He's alert. He's awake. I stare at him and growl. Why the hell are you awake, I think? I can hardly keep my eyes open and half the time I'm slumped over nursing him drooling on myself.
I have slept most of my nights starting off in the bed with Mr. Big and then graduating to the recliner or sofa by the end of the night. As I mentioned, Josh is colicky and cries alot. I fear that he will wake Mr. Big up, who has a full time job during the day, so I move to another room. Josh has been spitting up quite a bit too, which is new for me. Some days are better than others and I feel like I catch up on those days. It is the days that I don't get more than four hours of sleep in a twenty four hour period that suck ass!
So, as I type this, I have these feelings of-Am I really awake? Is this a dream? I can't be up at 7am, when I just got up at 6am to nurse him. He's in the swing and I don't hear crying... dare I go check on him?
I titled this post "Niblet" because that is the name my mother has given Josh. I find it endearing coming from his grandmother. Niblet is a cute name, but what exactly does it mean? Not sure. She dubbed Jacob "Munchkin" when he was born so I think she felt she need to tack on a cutsie name from the beginning with Josh. I mean, who would want to leave him out?
YAWN! I better go check on niblet. He actually might have passed out in the swing from pure exhaustion! Novel idea!
You are scaring me to death!! With Baby #2 on the way, I am so afraid I'm never going to sleep again, and then I read what you say and it confirms the fact that I am, indeed, about to start all over and that those sleepless days and nights are just right around the corner!!!! YIKES!
