The U.S. Poverty Level

This...

WASHINGTON —The nation's poverty rate rose to 12.7 percent of the population last year, the fourth consecutive annual increase, the Census Bureau said today. The percentage of people without health insurance did not change. Overall, there were 37 million people living in poverty, up 1.1 million people from 2003.

...is just amazing to me. I hate that 37 million people in the United States of America are living in poverty. I read this online today and felt extremely blessed to have a husband that is able to support me and our two children. Fact being we could support more children if we wanted more, which we do in the future. I feel sad for the 37 million that are living in poverty today. I wish I could do something. I mean more than what I'm doing now, which isn't much.

It really makes you think about other people and their situations. Hmmm...not much else to say. It just makes me sick and sad to think about it.

I agree with you! When I was teaching I saw first hand varying levels of poverty and it made me so upset. I remember telling my husband I wanted to take some of these kids home.
We are a lucky bunch, aren't we? Makes me mad at myself for complaining about staying at home. I need to do more, too. Thanks for the reminder.
