The Spirit

I remember growing up the spirit of Christmas. The smell of the Christmas tree when my Dad would lug it home for us. The way the ornaments glistened on the tree after we'd decorate it. The way the angel tilted to the right after my Dad put it atop the tree. The way the presents looked so perfect wrapped under the tree. The way the glitter looked on my stocking as it spelled out my name. The way the cards excited my Mom was they would come in the mail. The way the house seemed, so happy and warm. Everything about Christmas growing up brings me nice memories. Memories packed full of warmth and good cheer. I love this time of year.

My kids are one of the most important things to me. My husband being first as he was my first sweetheart. Life is how I dreamed it would be. I have two kids, a dog, a house, a vehicle to drive me where I need to go, food in my pantry, and much more. I feel blessed. I feel whole. The material things are not what is important though. No.

My husband's warm arms around me in the morning before he goes to work. My husband's kisses during the day. My husband's sweet voice when he calls from work to check on me and the kids. My husband's whole existence because I love that man and always will. I can't imagine my life with any one else. We complete one another and make a whole person together, me and him. What he lacks, I have and vice versa.

The kids are each their own individual person. Jacob is caring, sweet and happy. He always has a smile on his face. He's a talker, a musician and an actor. He is really smart and just an amazing person. He loves his brother and it melts me. Joshua is only five months old. We have so much to learn about Joshua, but from what we've gained already, he's amazing. He is happy, smiley and sweet. He has an attachment to both of us in different ways. He enjoys cuddling and playing with Mommy. He loves 'rough housing' with Daddy and really gets a good laugh out of him. The kids are just delicious. I use that word because they ARE!

The dog. She's patient, kind and loyal. She would never harm an ant. She might act like she would bite your arm off if you knocked on our door, but its all 'fluff' in that bark. She is a pussy cat. She's six years old, but can still fetch a tennis ball with the best of them! She is just a sweet, kind soul.

In the midst of all the family members I treasure and love, I have created a household where I can create a spirit of our own. We have our own traditions different then the ones I had growing up. I have used my parent's traditions and Mr. Big has incorporated his family traditions. Together we have created a twist on our old traditions and marbeled together new traditions. We find it cozy. We find it fun. We are filled with Holiday spirit! God, I love this time of year.
