I have no hair left! I started losing my hair 5 months postpartum this time. I'm not sure why, but I had a delayed reaction to childbirth. Last go, I lost my hair immediately following birth. Weird, right? I feel like my hair line is in the middle of my head as I have slowly, but surely lost a full head of thick, shiny, nice hair. Sigh! I am so sad. It is growing back, but at a snail's pace speed. I now have a nice spikey do up front where my long bangs once resided. Motherhood just gets sweeter and sweeter.
Josh is almost 7 months old. He's growing by leaps and bounds and doing something amazing each and every day. He is "talking" more and interacting tons. He loves his big brother and you can see the admiration in his eyes as he takes in all Jacob does each day. One word for that combination, Trouble. He is rolling all over the place. He is rocking on quasi-all-fours. He's scooting around the floor and getting himself wedged under coffee tables and chairs. He's crawfishing, as we like to refer to it, and scooting backwards under things. He's always happy. He laughs and smiles. I have been caught telling most of family and friends that "we forget we have him sometimes". I don't mean that in a bad way. No. He's a joy and lovely to have around. He's just so easy and quiet compared to my first born who has been a mover and a shaker since the day he evacuated the uterus. Joshua is more my pace. He reminds me more of myself. Jacob reminds me of Mr. Big on speed. Really. No joke. Joshua continues to nurse like a champ. He is eating solids twice daily, but still prefers Mommy's milk over regular food. He is my sweet cuddle bug. I get lost in him every day!
Jacob is 2 and a half going on 10. He's so smart. He teaches us things. Like the day he watched Animal Planet and knew the names of animals we didn't even know existed. He can count in english and spanish. He knows his alphabet. He can spell his name, first and last. He actually has a few jokes and has a great sense of humor. He cracks us up! He is just so honest and open. He tells you everything you want to know and much, much more. He's tempermental at times. What two year old isn't so I've been told?! He's just a roller coaster of emotions. He loves chocolate milk and doritos. He loves to rough house with Daddy! Those two can play for hours running around the house tackling one another and laughing. I have always said I don't have two kids, I've got three. That meant in a good way. The kids are keeping us both young. Jacob is and always will be my baby boy. He's so delicious!
So, even if my hair falls out I still have my kids. I love each of them so much. They are so different, but yet so alike. I love being a Mom and I treasure each moment I spend with them.

Have you ever had your thyroid levels checked? I too had an easy time losing the baby weight after my first baby, but had a horrible time losing the weight after my second. I also was losing a ton of my hair. I put up with this for several months before I decided to go see my doctor. She had several tests done and sure enough my thyroid was basically on the fritz. I'm on Synthroid now for the rest of my days. It's hard to believe, but the thyroid controls a lot of things and when its out of order you pay big time. Some of my symptoms were: Increased sensitivity to heat and cold, dry, itchy skin, hair loss, depression (I thought I had post-partum depression for awhile), weight gain, slow metabolism, high cholesterol (went back to normal after meds), irregular cycles (I was always regular before), and fatigue. They say it isn't hereditary, but it does run in families. And it seems to kick in during or after pregnancy. Just thought you might like to know.
Hi Jolene,
Thanks for posting! I've had my thyroid checked and it is normal. I think the main cause of my hair loss is drop in FSH and I am insulin resistant as well and off my Metformin (medication) because of nursing. Otherwise, all the things I complain about are pretty normal postpartum issues. Just wanted to answer you so I didn't leave you hanging. :o)
Have a great weekend!
Aimee
Amy, I can so relate to the losing hair issue. This did not happen so dramatically with my first. I seriously have hair about an inch long all the way around my head. Before the hair started growing back, I looked like I had a receeding hairline! I have hypothyroidism, have been on meds. for years, had my throid checked and everything is fine there, so I just decided it's part of life. What can you do?
Your boys are beautiful!
Mine didn't start until 5 or 6 months with both. I have two words for you...special shampoo and conditioner called it is green and minty and it is called......................brain fart comes with post-partum too.....er shit, I'll get it for you soon but it has saved the few strands of hair that I do have. I don't have much hair and losing it was not an option...my sweet hubby is going to look at the bottle and tell me what it is....you can thank him later ...oh yea NIOXIN is the magic name! Get it at professional salons...or even like at Sam's places in Walmart or Smart Style or whatever the heck the name of the places are
Your boys sound like my boys. My first is a live wire where the second is so easygoing. Its amazing how different they are. You have sweet boys.
