A minute to myself

Jacob is asleep in his room taking a nap. Josh is enjoying his intellitainer. I'm having a glass of ice water and enjoying a second to myself. Yay!

We still have no formal offer on the house. The 'buyers' came again this morning with a measuring tape and paper to measure walls and try to figure out where they could put their furniture. I guess that is a good sign, but I'm not holding my breath. I mean, you can come to measure-but you can't hand me an offer? I'm kind of confused, but still holding onto some hope that they will come through. The man told me as he was leaving that he would call Mr. Big tonight to discuss a contract and earnest money. So, I'm assuming the deal will go through-just not solidified yet. They also asked me if we had found something else because they would like to close as soon as possible. Gulp. Ah, sure we've found lots of "somethings". We just aren't 100% sure what we're doing yet. Doi!

We did find a nice house built in the late 80's in a neighborhood that one of best gal friends lives. The house needs some work, mostly landscaping and paint. The plus to this house is its 4 bedrooms and sits on a nice dead end street on the corner. It has a big lot with a nice size back yard for the kids to play. The house backs up to a field with trees and there are no neighbors on one side since its at a dead end street. The price was recently lowered by 10K and has been on the market over 90 days. So, we've got our eye on that particular house. We haven't made an offer yet. We're entertaining the idea of making one. We just kind of wanted to wait and see what happened with this deal. So-we'll see how things go. I hate being in limbo. This is so stressful to me. Grrr.

We also looked at a couple lease houses in the area. We found two that we liked quite a bit, but both needed some improvements. We realize that no lease house is going to be perfect. That is hard to choke down though when you have owned your last two homes and you want something the way you would care for it. Obviously leasers see the house as "not their own" so they don't care for it as if it was there own. It is a shame, but what can ya do?! The lease house idea is still a front-runner too. We just don't know if we want to buy another home and then move again in two years so we think leasing would be a great option for us.

Sigh. We have lots of decisions to make. Hopefully, we'll figure it all out. Sometimes being an adult sucks.

One funny thing about looking at houses, Jacob finds the tours simply fascinating. He now tells us as we scope out neighborhoods that he would like to go into THAT house. As he points randomly at a house. Ummm... THAT house, buddy, is not for sale. You have to love kids and the way they think sometimes. Priceless.

I missed something--what's happening in 2 years that you know you'll move then?

When I was Jacob's age, I made comments like "that sure is a nice swingset" every time we passed one. I've never been good at being subtle.

Amy-To answer your questions: Our long term plan is to stay in the Houston area for a couple more years while Mr. Big gets his business started here. Then we plan to migrate to Louisiana where most of Mr. Big's family now lives. Mr. Big's parents are both retiring this year and moving over. So, we're soon to follow, but our plan is in a "couple" years, not necessarily two per say, but that is our thought. We'll see if it happens. I think we'll end up living here a tad bit longer. Time will tell, I guess.
