Swim Classes

We had our first Mom and Me swimclass last night. Jacob was pumped up all day asking when we were going to the Y. 5:30 came and we put on his swim diaper and trunks and headed out the door. He was very excited (to say the least)!

We got there and parked Adda and Josh on the bleachers. We headed for the pool and got in. Miss Julie got us in a circle and we all learned lots of neat tricks in the pool. Jacob was ecstatic. He was kicking and paddling like a pro. He started off leary of the water and the maneuvers, but he soon became confident and comfortable in the water. I was so proud of him.

We got to sing lots of fun songs. Itsy Bitsy Spider (one of Jacob's favorite) and many others about frogs and fish, etc. He enjoyed that part. The part that was most enjoyable was throwing a floating fish out ahead of us and having him "swim" towards it. I held him under his arms while he floated belly down and he paddled/kicked towards it. He thought he was BIG STUFF doing that. He was all smiles.

Adda took lots of pictures. She started crying when she took our picture. Some things never change. I won't scare you with pictures of myself in a bathing suit, but I'm glad we took pictures to commemerate the special day of Jacob's first swim class.

Times like these my friends make motherhood. Seeing your son do something for the first time really, really makes a Mom proud!

I'm waiting on our crazy pool (which happens to be so fancy it is called a nanatorium and has all the bells and whistles but can't offer swimming lessons but once or twice a year...go figure) to offer lessons. Walker is gonna love it, I know!

I love swim classes with the kids! K is about ready for her first class without parents...I'm going to do it in the Fall, I think, after we've been in the pool all summer. M and I will do a Parent/Tot class then, too.
