New Home Thoughts

We bought our current home in December of 2002. We upsized from a 1200 square foot, 2 bedroom 1.5 bath home. Mr. Big was smart as he bought our last house as a starter home for him and his ex-wife. He bought it low and we sold it high. It was a good feeling to make double what he bought it for. He's smart like that, Thank God! It was in a trendy little spot outside of the Loop on 6-10 in Garden Oaks (for you Houstonians that know the area). Anyway-it was a cute little cottage home that was not very family friendly.

We were just about to sign up with an adoption agency when we found out we were preggo with Jacob. We found our home soon thereafter. We sold our old home and moved here where we upsized into a 2000 square foot home with three bedrooms and two baths. A perfect size home for a growing family. Or so we thought.

Right now one of our bedrooms serves as an office/spare bedroom. We use the master as our bedroom (duh!). The smaller bedroom at the end of the hall goes to the boys where they will share the room eventually. Right now the bedroom is more Jacob's room and Joshua sleeps with us in our bedroom. We talked some this weekend and discussed moving.

There are pros and cons with moving. Mainly the fact that Mr. Big would miss the pond out front and we'd both miss our small neighborhood/friendly neighbors. The pro would be a larger home with four bedrooms. We would like to have atleast one more child in the future and it would be nice for them to have their own space. The boys could eventually share a room and then we'd have a nursery for Joshua and or a new baby. We could have a spare room for the office still, which would be nice. We opted not to break down the office because I do some work out of my home on occasion and it would be too hard for the desk/phone/computer to be out in the open in a regular area of the house because of the kids and their noise. So, we would have that option in a new home as well.

We are weighing our options back and forth. We are looking at older homes with more room. The hard part for me is going from our new home to an older home that will need work. I had that before in our old home and we always had weekend projects. I did miss that some when we moved into this home, but not that much as we had more time for each other. Selfish, I know.

So-we'll see what happens. I'm sort of excited about it. We've found a few homes online that are just precious. It is fun to go and look and get an idea of what is out there. I've been thinking about decorating and paint colors. So fun! I miss that. I'm in such Mom mode lately that I am lucky to think about bathing. Speaking of, I should go catch a shower. Joshua is sleeping and Jacob is watching the "Go Diego, Go!" marathon on Nick Jr. today.

The idea of starting over in a new house is always so exciting! Paint! More rooms! More space! (Until you have to clean the bigger house with MORE rooms! :-)ha ha ) Good luck figuring it all out!
