I am breastfeeding exclusively. Joshua nurses all day long every 2-3 hours during the day. He has been sleeping longer at night from 4-6 hours and then back up every 2-3 hours to nurse. Josh will be four months on 11/5. Where am I going with all of this...
I GOT MY FREAKING PERIOD YESTERDAY!!!!!!!!!!!
I hate my period. I swear that being pregnant and nursing (till now) was such a vacation away from it. Blech! I was so pissed I called my doctor's office in the morning. The nurse called me back and told me that some breasfeeding mothers do in fact get their periods and ovulate. I was one of the lucky few. Fucking great. Thanks for nothing. She offered a script for birth control (no thank you).
So-here I sit (on) my maxi. Say it with me---- "SWEET"!!!
The only consolation I find in my period is the fact that I can track my ovulation pattern and get geared up for IUI again. Oh, I forgot that won't be for ummm 9 to 10 more months though... so in the mean time I should have some bad ass tracking in place. Sounds like real fun. I'll have some mad charting skills in place by then. I can add that to my "skills list". Cool.

Unfortunately it's mostly the women who have infertility problems or hormonal imbalances that get the early periods when still breastfeeding. Unfair!!! Shall I shoot the hag for ya?!
Sorry Aimee! That sucks big time! At least you're looking at the positive side...chats, charts and more charts! :-)
That's a kick in the pants, isn't it! I have particularly loved getting my period regularly now that I'm 'done' having babies. And I know my hormones are screwed up because along with the hag I now have acne on my chin; how embarressing!
Sorry that she found you; with all of your commitment to bfing you should have gotten longer w/o her!
Bev
While exclusively breastfeeding my daughter, my period returned at exactly 12 weeks postpartum. Not a little spotting either. A real period which returned 28 days later. I had barely stopped bleeding from the birth dammit! JIPPED!
And then you hear women complaining about getting theirs 12 months postpartum. Sigh...
I feel your pain girl
