Failed the One Hour Glucose Test... Blech!

They called me this morning and told me that I failed my one hour GD test. Blech! Passing level is 139 and mine came back at 147, so close to passing, but no cigar. I go back on Tuesday morning for the three hour version. I'm just so excited (NOT!)!!! Any success stories of passing the three hour after failing the one hour? Do tell!

Oh man, I'm sorry Aimee! I failed with my first pregnancy and then passed the 3 hour. Then the second time I failed both times. I will say that GD is not that bad. Think of it this way, if you have it - your weight gain will be minimal to none from this point forward, which is awfully nice! I lost 2 lbs. net from the day I found out I had GD to the day Jack was born. Nice!

There are 2 schools of thought that I've heard. One is to load up on the sugar for several days before and I do mean just cram in as much as possible. I don't know how this can work or that it does and I simply can't wrap my brain around it.

Me, I done everything as usual except the 1 1/2 before my test and then I went with low carbs and sugars and I past my 3 hour both times. Now.....not preggo, I'm a diabetic so you can only fool the tests for so long, then they sneak right up on you.

With K I failed the one hour and three hour tests, and like Stephanie, I found the GD to not be a horribly big deal. At first I was TOTALLY freaked out and thought it was going to be miserable, but it wasn't bad, especially since it was easily controlled by diet.

With M, I again failed the one-hour, and I was completey expecting to go down that road again, but then I passed the three-hour. They tested me again later in my pregnancy just to be sure, and I passed it again.

Try not to fret too much about it either way...if yu do have GD, you'll be able to monitor it closely and you won't sit around worrying about having problems with the baby, and if you pass the next test you'll be all set and won't have to worry.

Good luck!
