Ready as I'm gonna be...

Jacob starts school tomorrow. He has his new uniforms, school supplies, backpack, and lunch box ready to go! We picked out his outfit this morning and hung it on his closet door. He's going to wear a burnt orange polo with brown shorts and his new shoes for his first day. We wrote his name on his lunch box and back pack this morning and took all the tags off. He's super excited! You can see the joy in his face when we talk about it. He's very eager to meet new friends and learn about things. He's asked me a hundred times, "Mommy, what will we learn about the first day?". It's endearing that he's so hungry for knowledge.

I'm holding up. One minute I'm excited because he's excited and the next minute I'm sad because I'm his mother and well, I'm sad to see the first one leaving the flock. I know that the first week will be tough, but once we get beyond that I'll chill out and realize that it isn't as bad as I made it out in mind. Joshua will also have an adjustment because these two boys are best buddies. They do everything together and where one goes the other one follows. I hope Joshua doesn't miss him too much.

So, with that said, wish us luck tomorrow! I hope Jacob has an easy transition and entry into this new phase in his life and I hope that I can handle mothering a kindergartner.

Thinking of you and your family. I know it is hard - letting go always is, but it's such a big part of our job :)

Good luck.

Poor mommy. I had a hard time the first few days myself. We have Kindergarten from 8-3 around here. I cried for three mornings in a row when the bus pulled away.

My youngest starts Kindergarten in a couple weeks. Doubt it will be a smooth transition like with my oldest. She's very immature compared to her big sis. Not looking forward to the ultra cling that's bound to happen.

Good luck!

Good luck Jacob, and mommy! My son and I are going to be dealing with starting K this week, too. I am already weepy just at the thought of my oldest starting school, so you are definitely not alone on this one!

I went through this last school year with my daughter. I was very excited for her. It was definitely hard on her little sister who is her little buddy. Rachel was just telling me tonight that before kindergarten started she was excited and frustrated, frustrated because she didn't know exactly what to expect. But after that first day she loved it. SHe is having those same feelings about first grade, but I pointed out how many friends she has going into it, so it will be fun.

Good luck with everything and I am sure that your son will experience a smooth transition into his new grade.
